Project Rock began as a class assignment for 400 level Advertising class. Our group of four was given Lake Superior Village's Youth and Family Center (an amazing non-profit organization dedicated towards helping youth in Marquette, MI area) and were to create a campaign that would raise them $3,000 to provide the kids using the program with instruments to play and learn while there.
We began by creating an Indegogo campaign, Facebook page, Twitter, and Instagram. But the campaign became exceptionally rewarding when we not only began receiving money donations, but a plethora of instrument donations as well. The success began to grow when we decided to concentrate on reaching out to the local community with our goal.
We were able to organize two events at Ore Dock Brewing Company's Open Brewsic where we had the opportunity to speak with locals face-to-face and really get the word of our campaign to the community, while enjoying great local music and even better local beer.
We also created a YouTube station to promote videos of the YFC and how the campaign would help these kids.
